ANITA SUSAN MATHEW

ANITA SUSAN MATHEW

This is the first post on my new blog. This blog is dedicated to the people I've known for a decade or more. It is my own way to thank them for their friendship.

Each of the individuals mentioned in this blog have a special place in my heart. The first article of this blog is dedicated to one of my oldest and dearest friends, Ms. Anita Susan Mathew.

While writing an article about Anita, I looked up the positive traits of the zodiac sign she was born under (Libra), and discovered that a few of them describe her perfectly. She is urbane, charming and sociable.

Anita was born on the first day of October. I am one of those fortunate few who have known her for almost two decades. She was in my class in the second and third grades at Indian School Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman in the academic years 1989/90 and 1990/91 respectively. Our sections were shuffled after the third grade, because of which we were not in touch for a gap of about eight years.

Both of us opted for commerce in the eleventh grade in the year 1998/99, and chose the same optional subject (French). We were classmates in the eleventh and twelfth grades. That makes her one member of an exclusive club of classmates in the first two academic years and then in the last two academic years.

Her close friends affectionately call her Anu, and that is also the name which I will use in the remainder of this article. She is an extremely sophisticated young lady and is very confident. In fact, her positive attitude and her broad smile are the first two things you will notice about her if you meet her.

Anu is a mature and intelligent girl. The best thing about her is that she is very friendly and down-to-earth. She takes her own time to make friends, which explains why she has so many long-standing friends.

She is an accountant by profession. She makes sure both the sides of her employer's balance sheet show the same figure. Knowing her excellent academic track record, I am sure she is doing the management of her company proud.

This conscientious lass has recently tied the knot. Her husband is extremely lucky to have her as his better half, because she is genuinely a gem of a girl.

It is not easy to list down a few good qualities of a person whom you've been associated for so long, but I take this opportunity to state that Anu is one of the most sincere, hardworking, passionate and honest people I have come across in my life.

I have never seen her lose her cool, no matter what the circumstances may be. The word 'stress' does not seem to exist in Anu's dictionary. She is remarkably calm and composed.

An avid reader of novels in the fantasy genre, she lists the 'Harry Potter' series and the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy among her favourite books. However, I hope she reads this and likes it, because it is purely factual and not fictional.

Modesty and humility are two more traits that sum up Anu's personality. She and I will soon enter our second decade as friends, and it has been a great journey so far.

People will definitely notice that I have written a lot of good things about Anu, but then in the last nineteen years of our association with each other, I have not noticed anything about which I can criticise her. Apart from that, I personally dislike criticising anybody.

Here's wishing both Anu and her husband a long and happy married life. As for our friendship, I hope it continues to grow.
